Plagiarism Policy
According to the Concise Oxford Dictionary, Plagiarism is defined as "taking and using the thoughts, writings, and interventions of another person as one's own". As per HEC policy, plagiarism will not be accepted in JIES. Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas of others without attribution. All sources must be cited at the point they are used, and reuse of wording must be limited and be attributed or quotes in the text. With the submission, the authors must declare the originality of their work, properly citing or copying previous publications. If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript may be rejected. If the plagiarism is detected after publication, the publisher has the right to issue a correction or retract the paper. Authors are required to submit a report for an index of similarity generated by 'turnitin or any other software according to the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission. All articles submitted to the journal will be subject to plagiarism similarity checking using the Turnitin software. A maximum of 19% similarity index is allowed excluding references. No individual source of similarity should exceed more than 5%.
Originality of Manuscript
JIES accepts original manuscripts with the understanding that:
• The manuscript is not under consideration for publication
or published elsewhere.
• The manuscript has not been published previously in whole
or part
• JIES discourages the double publication of same conference
published paper: however, if extensive improvements are made in
theoretical and empirical parts to provide extended findings, implications,
and future directions, it may be considered for publication. Conference
published abstracts are not regarded as previous work. Extended
abstracts to articles are considered for publication in JIES.
• Those who contributed in various capacities are either included
as authors or have been duly acknowledged.
• Author(s) will be solely responsible for any plagiarism
• It is highly recommended that author(s) should follow the
publication ethics and malpractice policies laid down by American
Psychological Association (APA) and Committee on Publication Ethic
(COPE).
• In case of any breach of policy and rules are found, the
editorial team reserves the right to take legal action/ penalty
as decided accordingly.
Author Guidelines
Authors are required to provide an understanding/ declaration stating
that the manuscript under consideration contains solely their original
work that is not under consideration for publishing in any other
journal in any form.
Authors should not submit manuscripts describing essentially the
same research to more than one journal or publication. Except it
is a re-submission of a rejected or withdrawal manuscript.
Errors and accidental duplicates of other published article(s) or
are determined to violate our journal publishing ethics, guidelines
in the view of the editors (such as multiple submission, bogus claims
of authorship, plagiarism, fraudulent use of data or the like),
maybe “Withdrawal” from JIES.
Redundant publication refers to the situation that one study is
split into several parts and submitted to two or more journals.
Or the findings have previously been published elsewhere without
proper cross-referencing, permission or justification. Suspected
redundancy will result in rejection of publication. Transparency
by the author on the use of previously published work usually provides
the necessary information to make an assessment on whether it is
deliberate or unintentional.
It authors want to withdraw the article; they should request it
from the editor. Request cannot be entertained after completion
of the review.
Permission Requirements
As a general rule, permission should be sought from the rights holder
to reproduce any substantial part of a copyrighted work. This includes
any text, illustrations, charts, tables, photographs, or other material
from previously published sources.
Requirement of Consent
The authors would have to declare that informed consent was taken
from the participants at the time of data collection.
Copyright and licensing
For Authors
All manuscripts for articles, original research reports, editorials,
comments, reviews, book reviews, and letters submitted to the journal
must be accompanied by a conflict-of-interest disclosure statement
or a declaration by the authors that they do not have any conflicts
of interest to declare. All articles published in the journal must
be accompanied by this conflict-of-interest disclosure statement
that the authors have replied that they have no conflicts of interest
to declare. If a journal prints unsigned editorials, it should not
have been written by anyone with a conflict of interest. To facilitate
this policy, all authors must privately disclose ‘ALL their
potential conflicts of interest to the editors of the journal at
the time of submission. These include all financial and non-financial
interests and relationships with other organizations. Authors should
disclose any conflict of interest that may have influenced either
the conduct or the presentation of the research to the editors,
including but not limited to close relationships with those who
might be helped or hurt by the publication, academic interests,
and rivalries, and any personal, religious or political convictions
relevant to the topic at hand. The authors must include a draft
statement that discloses all relevant conflicts of interest and
affiliations in the article. The authors may reject reviewer(s)
at the time of submission due to any conflict of interest.
For Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers must reject/decline to be involved with a
submission when they have a recent/current publication or submission
with the author. Share or recently shared affiliations with the
author, collaborate, or to have close relations with the author
or financial interest/gain, or feel unable to be objective. Editorial
staff must not use information gained through working with manuscripts
for private gain. Reviewers must declare any remaining interests
in the ‘Confidential’ section of the review form, which
the editor will consider. Reviewer(s) must declare any conflict
of interest which may affect their review work. In cases of conflict
of interest, the reviewer(s) are requested to notify the editorial
team of their inability to review a particular research paper. Editors
and peer reviewers should disclose interests that might appear to
affect their ability to present or review work objectively. These
